On behalf of the Sunday School, Ellie says “We had such a good response last year and we would love to do it again. There will be a box at the back of the Church for any donations and a list on the notice board showing what you can and can’t include. Thank you from the Sunday School.” For further information visit the Operation Christmas Child website.

SUNDAY 19 DECEMBER 2010: SUNDAY SCHOOL NATIVITY PLAY

Collage of photos taken at the Nativity Play 2010 by Jenny Armstrong

The congregation of St Ninian’s, plus visitors, were treated to an excellent and entertaining re-telling of the Christmas Story by the children of the Sunday School, in their own inimitable style – under the capable direction of Rosie, Roz and Ann, assisted by Beth, and with musical contributions by Katie and Peter – thank you one and all!

The Sunday School was eventually able to send off 37 shoe boxes for less fortunate children under Operation Christmas Child, and thanked the congregation for their generosity in dontating to the cause.

ON MOTHERING SUNDAY the children distributed a plant pot containing a seed that they had planted to each lady in the congregation. Kathy Hutchinson reported that her nasturtium flowered prolifically earlier in the summer and is now flowering once again! It’s a beauty!!

EVERY WEEK DURING ADVENT 2009, children from the Sunday School sold home-made cards and decorations in the hall. They also had a special Prayer Tree, where you couldgive a prayer for somebody and hang a decoration on the tree. All the money received went to Christian Aid for planting trees in Kenya and Ethiopia.

Ellie and Katie wrote the following poem:

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School is fun.
Sunday School is great.
Everyone that’s here today
Would give it a very high rate.

We pray and we learn,
We sometimes sing some songs.
The thing that we like doing most of all
Is to stand in Church and perform!
